Much of Georgia's natural gas market was deregulated in 1998 to provide Georgians with competitive pricing for natural gas service. Customers who are on Atlanta Gas Light Company's natural gas pipeline system are eligible to choose their own marketer for natural gas service. Because Atlanta Gas Light Company manages the pipeline, they are responsible for repairing gas leaks and responding to other gas emergencies.
